AZ & CO State Renewals are completed!
Trade schools like Lyons Legacy Equestrian Academy need state licensure to ensure they meet a set of standards and are a legitimate educational option for prospective students. In addition, these standards set forth a level of quality that is expected from the curriculum. This helps to protect prospective students from investing in progams that will not meet their educational needs.
This process involves the submission of at least 20 essential documents, including financial statements, insurance certificates, surety bonds, course descriptions, faculty lists, and other required legal documents. For non-accredited institutions, the full review process, including both administrative and substantive evaluations, typically takes around 180 days.
The mission statements from both agencies are very similar. The goal of these agencies is to provide standards for and improve private occupational schools as well as to protect the citizens of their respective states against fraudulent or substandard private occupational schools. In both Arizona and Colorado, the board members are comprised of industry representatives, general public representatives, and financial community representatives. These groups work together to review submitted documents, interview school representatives in person at scheduled meetings, and verify the school has met their state requirements. We appreciate the hard work and dedication from both the Arizona Board Members and the Colorado Board Members!
None of this would be possible without the hard work of our administration team! Michele, program consultant, and Jana, Program Director, work tirelessly to make sure the necessary steps are taken to provide accurate and up to date information to these agencies. They deserve to be celebrated for their hard work and dedication to making Lyons Legacy a premier educational facility!
2025 Programs
With our state approvals in place, we are excited to offer our programs in both Arizona and Colorado in 2025! Each class takes just 10 students to ensure ample hands-on time working alongside of Josh Lyons. You’ll notice that the program names are different from state to state – that is driven by the requirements of each state in advertising of the programs.
To help clarify, the L1 Program in Arizona is the same as the Certification program in Colorado. This program focuses on starting horses under saddle, groundwork, and foundation pieces. The L2 Program in Arizona is the same as the Accreditation Program in Colorado. This program focuses on higher performance concepts, finishing work, and game specific maneuvers.
Each program is a stand-alone program, meaning you can take any of the programs as a single course or if pursuing both programs, in any order. You will find topics like marketing, starting your own business, and conducting clinics covered in both programs during their classroom time.
Invest in yourself and your future by gaining the foundation needed to find success with every horse you encounter. We can’t wait to have you join our team of Lyons Legacy Trainers!
